Jazz Classes

leotard or tight-fitting shirt (must cover stomach)

tights, dance pants, or track pants

jazz or ballet shoes….mandatory! It really affects their turns. There are good deals on dance shoes at Kid to Kid, Payless, and Wal-Mart.

Ballet & Pre-Ballet

Any color leotard or tight fitting shirt (must cover stomach)

tights (short ballet skirts are acceptable. Poofy, poofy long tu-tus are not). No baggy pants or tops!

ballet shoes (barefeet is o.k. for Pre-ballet, but no socks…too slippery)

Shoes for Ballet classes age 6 and up should be canvas or leather.

HAIR SECURED AWAY FROM FACE!

While poofy, long tu-tus are fun for performing, they are too hard to deal with in technique class. Short tu-tus are fine for pre-ballet girls.

Welcome Back!

About the director, Liz Newman-Sackewitz

Liz received a degree in Dance Education from BYU. She was a member of the BYU Cheer Squad and Dancensemble. Liz was the recipient of the Research and Creative Activities award and her choreography was showcased at the American College Dance Festival. Between 1997-2000, Liz took over the dance programs at American Fork High School, where she coached the modern dance company and drill team. She has spent many years teaching groups of all ages and abilities at local schools and studios, as well as running Kaleidoscope Dance Studio for 14 years. Liz is the mother of Parker (14), Emi (12), Quinn (8), and Macy (5).

Becky Jorgensen (pictured below) has enjoyed dancing in one form or another since she was 3. She has danced with her high school drill team and dance company, in musicals, and with BYU's Folk Dance ensemble. Ballet and modern technique classes were a favorite in college as well. She lives in Draper with her husband and two daughters, ages 9 and 10. She loves teaching children. In addition to teaching, Becky loves reading, cooking (especially desserts) and adventures with her family. She is thrilled to be starting her fourth year teaching at Kaleidoscope!

Lisa Liddell began her ballet career with The Children's Ballet Theater at the age of 3. When she was 14 she studied under Willam Christensen at The Christensen Academy. After dancing with Mr. "C" for 5 years she continued to dance as she majored in ballet at the University of Utah, where eventually she graduated with a degree in Family and Consumer Studies. She had the privilege of dancing in Ballet West's Nutcracker for 4 years in her youth. Most recently she was the dance director for her stake in the Draper Temple Celebration. Lisa and her husband Brian have been married for 16 years and they have two sons, Tanner (13) and Tyler (10). She currently resides in Draper, Utah.

LeeAnn (pictured below) has been dancing since she was 3 years old. In her teens she especially loved drill and clogging. After High School she went to Ricks College where she was able to teach clogging classes and was President of their women’s clogging team. While studying Elementary Education at BYU she furthered her dance experience with a variety of dance classes as well as performing with their Folk Dance Ensemble. During some of her college years she taught dance classes for Granite Community Education in the summer. LeeAnn taught 6^th grade at Crescent Elementary for 7 years and every year her students performed a song and dance program. The highlight of these programs was the opportunity for her kids to perform for various Olympic venues during the 2002 Olympics. She lives in Sandy with her sweet husband and 4 fantastic kids. She is very excited to be part of the team at Kaleidoscope Dance.
